“Now you can live your life and still eat right with the convenience, quality and great taste of Diet-to-Go.”
Diet-to-Go could be the best solution if you are looking to balance your life. Diet-to-Go is a meal delivery service that offers delicious meals, either via a fresh delivery or frozen delivery. Meals are freshly prepared and nutritionally balanced and portioned to leave you feeling satisfied as you lose weight.
Background
Meal delivery services have grown significantly as a result of people just not having enough time on their hands to prepare healthy and nutritious food for themselves and their families. They eliminate the stress of picking the right diet plan, planning menus, and preparing the perfect meal. And, now one of the most popular is Diet-to-Go.
Diet-to-Go is a privately held company that was founded in 1991 by Hilton Davis. The company was formed originally as a local diet delivery company in Virginia. In 1997, the company started one of the first frozen diet meal mail-order products in the United States. The original product was created under the guidance of Dr. Gabe Mirkin to be a low-fat diet product. The company currently produces roughly 30,000 meals per week. It is the only national personal chef plan designed to service health clubs and fitness studios.
How It Works
First you chose from one of the three different meal plan options (Traditional Low-Fat, Low-Carb and Vegetarian Low-Fat). Diet-to-Go then delivers a week’s worth of meals to your doorstep via UPS. Diet-to-Go also has the option of picking up your meals in certain select metropolitan areas – DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and San Francisco.
Meals delivered usually come on schedule, and are well packaged. The food comes frozen with dry ice in a polystyrene box, and packed by meal. Most food is packaged in vacuum sealed plastic trays. The non-perishable snacks and breakfast items in a separate plastic container located in a separate cardboard box.
When testing, we found all food delivered in perfect condition and the meals labeled with heating instructions. Customers are expected to go to the Diet-to- Go website to see the nutritional and ingredient information of each meal.
Preparation Required
Diet-to-Go has instructions for two methods of reheating the meals which are the microwave and a conventional oven. In the microwave, meals are ready in under 9 minutes from frozen and in the oven they are ready in about 30 minutes.
Diet and Nutritional Facts
Diet-to-Go offers different dieting options – Low Fat, Vegetarian, and Low Carb. The Low Carb and the Vegetarian options are available in 1200 and 1600 Calorie/day levels. As an additional service, they allow customers to customize all meal plans to suite their individual needs.
Local and frozen meals are currently inspected daily by the USDA and follow the association guidelines of the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society and the American Diabetes Association.

Is This The Plan For Me?
The main things to take into consideration when deciding if Diet-to-Go is right for you is price, and how does it taste! This is a fact for all meal delivery diet systems.
Compared to its competitors and for the quality of the product, Diet-to-Go is reasonably priced. See the chart below to see how they stack up against competitors. This is one of the main advantages of the program. And, if you think about how much money you spend eating out, Diet-to-Go is much more affordable and you increase your chance of losing weight eating their healthy meals.
Even if the price is right, it has to taste good – right?! And, the main feedback you’ll hear about the Diet-to-Go plan is how good it tastes. While some diet supplements, and weight loss meal plans are not focused on flavor as much as calories and fat content, Diet-to-Go offers different levels of food that actually taste good. We’ve tested a few meals from their program and from our experiences the testimonials seem to hold true. They offer an extensive menu of satisfying dishes that can also be customized. We sampled the Blackened Turkey Loin and the Egg & Broccoli Pie which was very good. It was fresh, well-seasoned, and filling.
